SUGI HAPKIDO Seattle
Seattle Sugi Hapkido is currently located in Seattle’s Central District and is a family-friendly community of Sugi Hapkido practitioners. The “Seattle Family” of Sugi Hapkido maintains a constant connection with Grandmaster Young Gul Son and maintains strict adherence to the Sugi Hapkido curriculum.

Master BJ Singletary
Master BJ Singletary began training in Hapkido in the Summer of 2001 at Washington State University, earning his 1st Dan in 2002.
Master BJ has spent the last two-plus decades training and supporting the growth of others in the art of Hapkido, along with pursuing his passion to continue his training as a lifetime learner. Master BJ has trained under Grandmaster Young Gul Son since 2010 and earned his 5th Dan promotion in 2014.

Master Malika Kirkling
Master Malika Kirkling has been training in Sugi Heuk Choo Kwan Hapkido for almost 20 years. She began training in 2004 in Seattle, Washington and earned her 1st Dan Black Belt in 2006.
She has trained under Grandmaster Young Gul Son since 2010, earning her 4th Dan Black Belt certification in 2014. Master Malika is passionate about cultivating self-discovery and creativity through the principles of hapkido training.

Instructor Danny Boukhalil
Instructor Danny Boukhalil began his hapkido journey in 2012 under the instruction of Master BJ and received his first Dan in 2014. With the support of Master BJ and the Seattle Sugi Hapkido family, Danny earned his 3rd Dan in 2019. Danny is passionate about being part of this community and committed to growing in his Hapkido journey under the leadership of Grandmaster Young Gul Son and Master BJ.

Instructor Heather Sankey
Instructor Heather Sankey began her Hapkido journey in 2013 under the guidance of Master BJ Singletary. Having the privilege to earn her 1st Dan in the presence of founder Jong-Moon Jin was a highlight and incredible honor. The opportunity to learn and participate in Hapkido has been a lifelong dream and will continue to drive her passion for learning.
